Howdy, I am a new member and am looking for some advice. I just dug my old bike out of the shed to see if I can do something cool with it. We got this as a used bike in the early 70's (I think it was built mid 60's - says made it Little Rock on the name decal) - it was my older brother's first then mine when we were kids and its 24" instead of the usual 26" bikes that I see customized. I am thinking about extending the fork and frame a bit to fit 26" wheels - front fork could be modded to add a link and a spring. Or just make it ridable with the 24" wheels and get the biggest tires I can to fatten things up and make it look less like a kids bike. I think I can get a decent riding position with tall layback seat mount and maybe a longer shaft to get the handlebars up. Looking to do something quick and dirty so I can start riding it. I plan keep the paitina and remove or cut down the fenders get new grips and pedals and have the seat redone, add some LED lights to the font of the tank. I appreciate any thoughts on how to deal with the smaller size of the bike.

If it were mine, I'd probably just put the sheet metal in the closet for safekeeping and stick on ape hangers and a banana seat, and a knobby tire on the back. Those mid-60s AMF "middle weight" style bikes usually won't take anything wider than the 2.125" tires available at the time, at least in stock form, and the fender may have to come off for that. Extending the frame is certainly a do-able option.
