My colleagues in our Hamburg office wanted Asian food delivered during our working lunch. Being from San Francisco, again, I was hesitant with Asian food in Germany. Also, Bok is an eclectic Asian restaurant, serving sushi, Thai food, and some hints of Chinese food. I played it safe and went with the fried tofu with veggies.
Honestly, the fried tofu and veggies weren't bad at all. Delicate pieces of fried tofu with fresh assorted veggies and a light gravy. I had a bite of my colleague's fried chicken and it was enjoyable as well. It came with a side of a sweet sauce, but I didn't use any of the sweet sauce. If you're craving for Asian food in Hamburg, Bok isn't a bad choice.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Feb 22, 2013
I had a nice solo lunch at this Bok! I read about it on Yelp as being a fairly decent and relaxed place for Asian food. The menu is in German and English.
I had a chicken dish with yellow curry and various veggies, it came with a side of white rice. They claim it's one of the spicy dishes - I'd argue that, but, I'm from Oakland, California, where there are 10 spicy Asian restaurants within a block radius of my house - and we're spoiled. So when I come to Northern Europe and get "spicy" food it's often not spicy. But, it was warm and tasty and the restaurant had great music playing.
I enjoyed it - I just needed something quick and warming in between work. Thanks Bok for delivering it! (And yes, too many locations in one area..very confusing :) )Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mads J.Schenefeld, Germany1255Sep 14, 2018
Very good food for a good price.
Tasted a bit of everything from their Thai/Korean/Chinese/Sushi dishes and all were very enjoyable.
Will definitely visit again if I'm nearby and looking for a spot to eat!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 16, 2015
Excellent service, atmosphere and food. The Pänang curry crisp duck was perfect. The price was VERY reasonable. The best meal we have had in Hamburg thus far. I wish I had had room for the soups and desserts. Go early or wait long.

A big no go for this place. The service was good, but the food a disaster. Me and my wife ordered chicken teriyaki and kunsperige ente. The chicken dish hardly contained chicken, guess chicken is rare these days. The duck dish was very dry. You could hardly eat the duck.

A lot of Asian food in Germany is "verdeutscht" as is a significant amount of Asian food Americanized in the States. But coming from NY, you get such a wide array of pretty authentic Asian dishes. Bok avoids becoming like the throngs of fast food noodle joints in Hamburg and offers up some of the best Asian food, I think, you'll get in Hamburg.

First of all, be careful when telling friends "Let's meet at Bok," in "Schanzenviertel," because for one, there are several chains in Hamburg and next, there are I believe three already in the Schanze area.
I first ate at the Bok on Susannenstrasse with friends from University when I moved to Hamburg, which we found was a nice meal, comparably to the Mensa (cafeteria) food that we more or less often ate on a regular basis. This sushi bar is really great for students because it is casual, yet feels a bit upscale, but affordable. It is levels above Sushi Circle which I personally think people eat there simply for the entertaining factor of prepared sushi on a rotating belt. Otherwise, instant sushi is never quite as delicious as freshly made to order.
If I visit Bok, I like the location along Schulterblatt because during warm days and summer weather, they bring out long wooden benches to eat outdoors. This street is great for dining outside with friends, people watching, and having some drinks well into the evening, then heading over to the several bars in the immediate area.
I would go here if you prefer a variety of sushi choices, vegetarian options, like Japanese noodles, sitting outdoors in the warmer months to come and want to be in the midst of the buzzing Schanzenviertel neighborhood vibe, off the main street, at an affordable price.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tobias T.San Francisco, CA05Jul 14, 2014
Probably the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. Rude, condescending and exceptionally slow.
